Bramblestorm and his deputy Sunflight padded silently along the river. Firestar had once traveled this way, too, but his life was in the paws of StarClan. Bramblestorm trusted Charcoalpaw to tell Raindrop that she was in charge until they got back. Charcoalpaw was loyal, but too young to come on this journey. The apprentice was only seven moons old and still needed many moons of training.

The sun began to sink into the moorlands making a gloden shining light upon the two cats. Sunflight pressed closer to Bramblestorm as the temperature began to drop with the sun. "Think we should stop for the night?" Sunflight asked softly. She was to transfixed on the beautiful image of the setting sun before her eyes to speak loudly. Sunflight began to shiver as it became cold. She turned to Bramblestorm, waiting for his answer.

"Sure." He murmured, curling up beside her. They shared their warmth as the sun set. Soon, they moved to a place where the breeze was lighter and the air was strewn with ferns to keep warm. He let his mate sleep under a small patch of roots so the kits inside her would be safe. They would have to travel lightly as to not disturb her pregnancy. Both cats had learned some medicine and tequniques by Grassfoot in case Sunflight went in to labor during the quest. They needed to save Skyclan and bring them back to the SkyClan camp.

"Thank you," She purred kindly and lovingly as she blinked warmly at him as he moved to let her fit into the warmest and coziest spot. Sunflight's jaws parted in a huge yawn as the sun began to sink fully into the horizon, engulfing the sky in darkness only lit by the glowing moon and the star-studded sky. She curled up to bramblestorm as he moved in beide her as the cold began to sink in. She really hoped her kitting wouldn't come during the quest because it might make the journey very difficult and harder for them. She wanted to make this one of the best times ever, at the side of her mate and leader away from te difficulties of the clan. Though Sunflight didn't know what hardships the quest held.

The night was long and cold, and he could see his mate slightly shivering under the ferns. He curled against her to share his body heat and finally fell asleep.

Sunflight finally relaxed as she felt warmth encircle her and rush through her limbs. The night pushed on, and the sun soon rose into the light blue sky. As she blinked open her eyes the sun beat down on them. It would be a hard day, with the heat so intense. It didn't quite make sense that the night had been so cold but the day was so warm. She gaped her jaws in a yawn, afterwrds gently flicking Bramblestorm affectionatly across the ear. "Wake up you sleepy head," She meowed softly and caringly to her mate. "Time to get up."

Bramblestorm stretched and yawned, sitting up.

Sunflight sat and blinked warmly at her mate. "Would you like me to go hunt?" She asked. But suddenly a shooting pain hit her. She glanced down at her rounded belly that felt like it was being raked by badgers. A whine escaped from her and she slowly layed down onto the moorland grass. She breathed deeply trying to ease the pain. The kits were coming. Sunflight blinked apologetically at her mate. "I'm sorry," she gasped. Sunflight really hadn't wanted to make the journey any harder by having the kits while they were on the journey. But one thing she knew was that she wouldn't give up. She would continue the journey no matter what- even with the kits, though it would be harder. She laid still and pain shot through her as the kits began to come.

Sunflight's paws slid raking the earth in pain. Suddenly before her eyes four small bundles of fur lay shaking and wet. First came a pale orange tom with amber eyes. "Sandkit." Second came a golden tom that was like an image of her except for a dark stripe down his back and on his tail. "Thornkit." Third came a small kit that was like an exact image of her father Bramblestorm, except she was a she-cat. And last came a very small she-cat that was light gray with green eyes. "Wildkit." She panted hard trying to pull herself to her paws but she felt back down again on her side. She turned so she could lick the small kits as they squirmed wretlessly. She gazed up into Bramblestorms gray eyes and told him what they looked like. She waited silently to see what his response would be. She pressed her muzzle inot his fur, sighing. It was over.

"They're beautiful!" he meowed, nuzzling her. "She can be... Bramblekit, after her father." he nuzzled the one that looked like him and said, "We should rest." He nuzzled his mate and kits into the ferns and then said, "I'll go hunting." Just as he turned away and left their sight, he hear a growl and saw bright orang fur. "Fox!" he yowled, dodging a huge lumbering paw. The huge fox snarled and scraped at his belly. He collapsed and panted heavily before lunging away and sinking his teeth into the fox's back leg. Blood spilled out of the wound and he pulled away just in time to miss the sharp teeth that dug into the dust and grass. He soon felt teeth close around his neck and felt a sear of pain through him. In a trance, he saw one out of nine cats fade away. He had lost a life. Eventually, the eight lived Bramblestorm leaped up and turned, hissing at the fox. He pounced on to it's side and dug his claws in hard as he could. Spinning around, Bramblestorm plunged his teeth into the soft neck fur and the fox barked painfully. He jumped off and saw the fox sink wearily to the ground. He could kill it-but he would not want to murder with his kits and mate within an earshot. He covered the dreary fox with dust and grass so it would live and know not to attack a cat like him anymore. He had lost a life though, and one cat had faded. He would need to tell Sunflight. Limping away, he suddenly realized that they needed fresh kill. He stared at the fox and saw it would make the perfect meal. He wouldn't want to kill it though, so he limped after a few mice. Arriving aback where his mate was, he told her what happened. "I lost a life. I have eight lives left now." He meowed, nudging her a mouse. He decided the kits should try a bit so he torew up a mouse and passed it to Sandkit and Thornkit. Wildkit soon padded over to join her brothers in their meal. Bramblestorm sat patiently to let the other kits eat first, just like a Clan leader. Maybe she would be a good leader someday. He had their warrior named implanted in his head already. Sandfeather, Thornclaw, Wildmist, and Brambleflight. All loyal names. He nuzzled the mouse to Bramblekit and she dug in relentlessly, happy that she could have a turn now that her siblings had eaten. "She's a natural leader." He voiced aloud, staring at his daughter.

Sunflight's eyes clouded with worry. "Are you alright?" She asked urgently. She skimmed her muzzle across his fur and suddenly gasped at the bleeding gash on his neck. "You need cobwebs and-" She stopped and paced fretfully. "Marigold!" She raced off as she remembered the herb. She carefully flucked out the marigold and swiped a web with her golden paw. She raced back to where Bramblestorm was waiting with the kits. She gently began to swab on the remedy, though she wasn't nearly as good as Rainflower. She stepped back and sighed once she was done. "It may not be as good as Rainflowers, but it will still work." As the kits toe into their meal, Sunflight licked Bramblestorm between the ears. "I'm so glad that we had kits." They brought her and Bramblestorm great joy in the next few sunrises. All the kits did now were play and leap around, sometimes they seemed to have more energy than Sunflight and Bramblestorm. They also learned to talk, and wouldn't stop talking. Sunflight woke with a start one morning. Small white flakes began to fall from the milky sky, landing gold on her pink nose. The kits began to squirm restlessly before finally waking up. "Bramblestorm!" Sunflight nudged him careful not to hurt his mending wound. As he blinked open his eyes she meowed, "It's snowing!"

"Thanks for the herbs. We better keep the kits warm while the snow continues." But despite their efforts, Bramblekit stepped highly energeticly in to the snow. "Wow! This is so cool! I love it here!" she curled up in a blanket of snow and yawned. Bramblestorm purred and licked his mate's ear. "Well, she is having a good time!" he laughed.

A smile spread across her face and she laughed. "Yeah, your sure right about that!" Sunflight yawned in the chilly morning breeze as it ruffled her golden fur. The sun was completely hidden in the milky white clouds. Sunflight and Bramblestorm sat and watched them play for a while before nudging them on. Wildkit fell in altogether at times and Sunflight and Bramblestorm had to dig her out, and on the other hand, Bramblekit seemed to prance on it like it was never there, not even making the smallest dent. Sandkit trudged through head hung low, grumbling to himself asking why he had to do this. Thornkit just padded on, always looking at the horizon with a raised head, acting as though something was just going to apear out of nowhere. But suddenly it did. Huge towering cliffs of sheep orange stone, and lush forest in between the gullies rose into the sky, stopping all six cats in their tracks. "Wow. We're really here. We made it." Was all Sunflight could say. She was so excited and stunned at the same time she barely spoke over a whiser.
