RiverClan Territory
Hawkfrost: Dappled misty blue-grey tom
Gemfeather: Creamy white she-cat
Ravenkit: young, small black kit
The night was young and quiet besides a low sound breaking the twilight chorus. It came from a young she-cat in a dark den with her mate.
She was moaning and thrashing as a small wet bundle of fur appeared at her side.
"Gemfeather, It'll be OK. They're doing fine so far." the young tom comforted her.
The white she-cat managed a few words. "Hawkfrost, you're Tigerstar's son! I can't see how you think I'm fine! I'm dying." she groaned.
Hawkfrost buried his muzzle in to her stomach with affection, making her yowl in pain.
"Sorry, Gemfeather, I forgot." The young warrior stammered to his mate quickly.
"Why can't we get Mothwing?" Gemfeather muttered. Her breathing was shallow and painful but Hawkfrost was determined.
"We'll be honored above Leopardstar if we can have a kit without a medicine cat! Don't you want the respect?" Hawkfrost snapped.
"Hawfrost, I thought that you, being deputy, had enough honor!" Gemfeather breathed, stung by her mate's words. "I thought you loved me."
Hawkfrost nuzzled her cheek. "I love you... but we need the honor to start our new Clan." he murmured in her ear.
"Again with that mouse-dung idea of yours! I'm happy being a RiverClan warrior!" the white queen snapped.
Hawkfrost pulled his muzzle away. "Don't get me mad. The easiest thing I can do while you're kitting is kill you." Hawkfrost held a sharp black claw to her throat. "And your kits."
"No!" she cried. "Let them live!"
Hawkfrost nodded satisfied and licked her ear.
"Hawkfrost, I'm dying. Goodbye." Gemfeather rasped in a small whisper before resting her head and closing her eyes.
Hawkfrost glared and shoved her limp body aside to reveal that all the kits were lying still and quiet.
The gray tom snorted ruefully and and turned to leave the deserted nursery when a small moan coursed through his mate.
Hawkfrost ran back to her side and saw a small black bundle appearing. He used his teeth to help pull it out and saw that it was breathing!
Hawkfrost's eyes turned to slits as he looked down on the kit. It was a young black tom.
He had plans for this kit.
"Ravenkit, the slyest of the birds and Clan cats."
Hawkfrost grinned and nudged the kit towards the nursery door before putting on a horrified expression.
"Leopardstar! Gemfeather is dead, and only Ravenkit survived!" he yowled in a worried and frantic voice.
Moons later, Hawkfrost wondered to ThunderClan Territory for a plot to kill Firestar and make his brother Brambleclaw leader in Tigerstar's plot.
He never returned.
