Midnightstar padded graceful and silent down the path to the moonpool encarved with ancient paw prints from her warrior ancestors. As she padded down she could hear faint gentle voices calling, come, Midnightstar. Listen. Listen to what we have to tell you. Midnightstar lapped at the water, then lay down with her black muzzle touching the rippling dark water. Within a heartbeat sleep engulfed her and as she opened her eyes she found herself standing on a rocky mountain with cats screeching and loud squeals echoing the rocks. She bunched her pwerful haunches, leaping from rock to rock until she stood on the peak and could see what was below her. Rows, and rows of giant rats battled with cats she had never seen before. They had muscular haunches and as she watched, cats leapt higher than she had ever seen. Suddenly the cats fled but the rats came running toward her. She tried to run, but when she turned around, her clan mates were yowling with terror, panic-stricken. Before she knew it she could hear the hot breath of the rats on her tail. We will get you, they whispered.
Midnightstar blinked open her eyes terrified. Now she knew what the gleaming eyes were. The rats! She had heard stories about how Firestar and Sandsorm had went to find the abandoned clan, skyclan, and how large amounts of rats had first driven them out. The second Skyclan had defeated them and the rats must have come to the lake for revenge to any cats. Scrambling to her paws she bounded away half stumbling with sleep. As she ran on she gained steadyness as she cam closer.
