Spanglefur, the new deputy of RiverClan, padded quietly into the clearing before the Gathering. His Clan were the first ones there. His blind eyes gazed at the lake, and he sniffed for the scent of other Clans.
Arrowhead shook droplets of water from her red pelt. Swimming across instead of using the tree-bridge, as she had done when an apprentice, was hard work. But she loved the feeling of the water soaking her fur.
Burningflame sniffed the air unsurely. Was that ThunderClan? He hoped so. He didn't want to wait too long. Suddenly water hit him. "Hey!" he hissed playfully to his sister, flicking her with his paw. "I love Gatherings." he whispered to Cloduwhisker.
Sunhawk randomly fell off of the tree-bridge.

BlueSky padded over to Spanglefur "congrats on becoming deputy" she meowed.
Applepaw and otterpaw walked around.

"Thanks." Spanglefur mewed. "Wait....how did you find out?" he asked.
Sunhawk shook himself and wandered blindly around, crashing into the Great Oak, sending leaves raining down on the assembled cats.

"Cool." Spanglefur smiled. Suddenly a furry shape crashed into them. It was a dark brown tabby tom, his eeys closed and bleeding. "Sunhawk!"
Sunhawk wailed in pain, his eyes swelling and bleeding. Keeping his eyes closed, he gazed at the sky. "Redstar...Hawkstar..."

Snowpaw's eyes opened in alarm. What in StarClan's sake had happened?? She stood in shock and astonishment, not sure if she should rush forward or not.
Stormflower jumped at the comotion. Her heart skipped a beat as she watched the tom crash blindly. Bolting forward she yowled, "someone, help!" She tried to help the tom regain his balence and she heard him mumbling something, but she couldn't quite hear. She gently held his scruff and lowered him to the earth, gazing down at the dazed tom. What had happened. She watched as he fainted and stood nervously. Even if he was from a different clan, she still felt she should help. Waiting, she stood, flicking the tip of her gray tail restlessly.

Sunhawk woke with a start, his dark tail lashing, his eyes red and deep-set in. "Am...Am I dead?" he stammered, feeling a rush of pain in his back leg. He remembered his mother telling him that all of her kits, when they were hurt, felt pain in their back leg. It was a family thing, he had guessed. "Ow!" he moaned.

"No, your not dead," Stormflower meowed.
Snowpaw eventually bounded over, gazing at the wounded warrior. She looked up at her mother for reasurance.
Stormflower turned her gaze to Snowpaw, mewing, "dear, go get Seashell please."
Snowpaw nodded and bounded toward the medicine cat sitting at the edge of the clearing. "Sunhawk's hurt! You must hurry!"

Seashell turned her gaze on the young cat. Her blind eyes clouded with worry. "Let's go!" she mewed. Her brother! Nothing could ever happen to him!
Sunhawk scented Seashell.
Seashell could smell the blood and a mental image flashed into her mind. "Oh my!" she meowed. "Does anyone know where to find cobwebs here? I need some now, along with some goldenrod and marigold, and a bit of stinging nettle!" she announced. "It's the only thing that can save Sunhawk from blindness...or worse!" she added sadly.

Midnightstar padded toward the group calmly, her emerald eyes warm and kind. "Goldenrod can only be found on the lushest feilds on the moor, I'm not sure how long it would take for me to run back to get it. As for the cobwebs and nettle, Snowpaw will gather that. And Darkpaw, please find some marigold. It's a bright orange-yellow flower. Hurry!" Midnightpaw had watched Willowpelt often when she was a young apprentice, and she luckily remembered what the herbs were that Seashell was explaining.
Darkpaw nodded enthusiastically and raced into the forest, his sister hard on his heels. Picking four flowers in his jaws, Darkpaw ambled back to the clearing and dropped the herb at the medicine cat's paws.
Snowpaw ran straight into a very large web, letting it hang on her muzzle as she collected a mouthful of stinging nettle. Its foul taste tore at her mouth and she grimaced, but turned and laid the herbs infront of the RiverClan she-cat.
Midnightstar raced to the moor, her paws pounding the earth. She flew so fast she was nothing more than a blur across the feilds. Tearing Goldenrod from its stalks, and turned back and again pelted across the moor until she stood panting infront of Seashell with the Golden herb at her paws.

"Thank you all." Seashell meowed kindly, applying the poultices to Sunhawk's wounds.
"Ow! That hurts! " Sunhawk complained.
"Hush. It will make you better." Seashell replied calmly, wishing with all her heart that that were true.

Flamefur and Cloudwhisker arrived a little late due to the ginger tom spraining his paw and limping most of the way, against Eaglestar's wishes.
Redstar saw Sunhawk. "No!" she yowled at him.

Hawkstar swirled her scent around the cats. "Peace," she mewed in each one's ear, her voice very gentle to Flamefur.
Sunhawk winced an pain.

Birchstar sat in a branch of a tall oak, gazing down at the cats. She would go down if necessary, but everything so far looked alright.
