Looking up into the humongous Oak tree Leaf took a deep breath. She had never climbed such a big tree in her whole life. Backing up she took a running start at the tree. Leaf didn't stop until she was on the third branch up. Looking up again she saw another squirrel on the tree. Then another. Shaking she was about to turn around when one of them chattered," Hey who are you?"

Blaze glared at her. "Hey! Who are you?" he growled, leaping up after her. "Don't you know there're cats in these woods? My sister was killed because of one that called himself Firefur or Flame-something..."

"Ya I know," she said reproachfully gazing at the squirrel who had snuck up on her. " My name is Leaf. And what is yours, may I ask?"

"I'm Blaze." Blaze cooly said, tilting his head. "Um... nice name."

"Thanks." Blaze casually nibbled at an acorn and sighed, closing his eyes and leaning against a tree.

Russet bared her teeth and peered out of the leaves. She crouched, ready to pounce. Seeing Leaf, her good friend, she relaxed and padded out. "Hey leaf," she said casually to her friend."

"Well, no doubt, I live here," she chirped, as she padded forward arrogantly.

Looking startled then remembered why she was here, to visit her friend, she laughed then chirped back," Hi Russet. How are you?"

Russet smiled at her friend. "I'm good thanks. I've been hearing you've needed a place to stay. There's a hollow about, oh, maybe 25 cat lenths down from mine. It was abandoned by a squirrel many seasons ago, and its pretty well clear from cats. I've only seen one venture next to the tree, but none other. If you made it more cozy it'd be a great nest," she exclaimed.

"Thanks Russet," Leaf exclaimed happily that her friend had found her a home.
