Vixenpaw closed her eyes and flicked her bushy ginger tail. The air was cool and she was enjoying being trained by Flamefur and Midnightstar, but she still felt out of place. She felt weird.
"I think I'll keep my name. I'll just be Vixen." she murmured. Vixen.
Vixen thought for a moment. She wished that she had any cat there that she had known. She had had a sister when she was little, but was sure that her sister was still in Twolegplace. Suddenly, the ginger cat felt a pang of loss.
"Oh, where are you Dawn?" she voiced her sister's name allowed. "Maybe I'm not cut out for Clan life."

Wolfpaw padded into the apprentices den, his jaws gaping in a yawn. He had gotten up early for the dawn patrol, and soon after gone training. His ears tilted forward as he heard Vixenpaw murmuring to herself.
'Why don't you think you'll be cut out for clan life?" Wolfpaw asked, padding in, tilting his head.

"I mean-" she sighed. "I don't like the fighting and I am afraid of other Clans. I'm a stupid piece of fox-dung!" her eyes stained with tears as she looked up at Wolfpaw. The handsome tom stood tall in front of her.

Wolfpaw gazed down sypathetically at her. "I'm sure you'll learn," he meowed, trying to comfort her. He suddenly jolted with an idea. "You don't have to be a warrior!' He meowed excitedly. "You could be a medicine cat!"

Vixen hesitated, looking up at Wolfpaw. She sighed. "I'll become a medicine cat." Then a thought hit her. She would never be able to have a mate or kits or a family. She would not be able to hunt for her Clan or love any cat. But at least I'll be useful, she thought.
Moons later, Vixen stepped up as a medicine cat of ThunderClan.

Wolfpaw flicked his tail, smiling as he watched the finishing touch be made for the new medicine cat, Vixen.
