Spanglefur's Lives

[*Spanglestar]

Spanglefur trudged up the hill to the Moonpool and lay down beside it.

Redstar and Bramblestar came first. They sat side by side and wrapped their tails around their paws. "Hello, Spanglefur. I was sorry to here about my apprentice's retirement, but I'm glad she's still living her life to a full. Leadership might have not been her best status." Redstar meowed solemnly. She lifted her chin. "This is a life for knowledge. You will know who would be the right deputy, and who shall mentor who. You will have a mate you love and generations will be born of you." The red tabby touched her nose to Spanglefur and he felt the life pulse through him. Bramblestar leaned forward next. "I give you a life for loyalty. I let myself die before the fox could kill my Clan. I am sad to see WindClan go, but maybe it's for the best."

Spanglefur felt faint for a moment, but then Glacierstar padded forward. "I give you a life for guidance. Use it to be a great mentor to your Clan." Spanglefur felt the strong sensation to help his Clan.

Then a cat that Spanglefur had only heard of in stories stepped forward. Jayfeather the blind medicine cat. "I give you a life for calmness. Use it so that you do not get mad about your blindness." Spanglefur felt like he was being humiliated, like Jayfeather was.

The next cat was Twistedstar. "I give you a life for helpfulness. Use it to help the weak or saddened in your Clan."

Then Mistystar padded forward. "I give you a life of energy. Use it to fight the best you can for your Clan."

A golden tabby appeared in the mist. It was Leopardstar. "I give you a life for judgment. Use it to know what is best for your Clan."

A cat with a crooked jaw stepped up to Spanglefur, who was feeling very faint. "I give you this life for leadership. Use it to lead your Clan out of troubles and outbursts with other Clans."

Spanglefur gasped. He tried to snarle, but he was too weak. "Git...filthy...pelt...out...here..." he mumbled, not sounding the way he'd planned. Wildpath narrowed his eyes. "Spanglefur, don't be ashamed." He touched his nose to his. "I give you a life for love. Use it to do the best for the ones you care about."
Spanglefur felt like he was going to faint. He didn't know what was happening, although all of a sudden he heard shouts of "Spanglestar! Spanglestar!" and he woke up next to the Moonpool.
