Rowanstar sprinted towards the Great Tree. He flexed his muscles and leaped on to it with little effort. The tabby tom lifted his chin high proudly and called out the Clan greeting. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Great Tree for a Clan announcement!"
As his Clan gathered, Rowanstar pondered a problem. His choice had never had an apprentice.
Ashkit, a small dark gray she-kit, padded towards the Great Tree proudly. She was only five moons old, but she would have to do.
"It is time that I appoint the ShadowClan deputy. I say these words before StarClan that they hear and approve my choice. Streamfrost will be the new deputy of ShadowClan."
Hearing those words, the cats below Rowanstar stared bleakly. They were confused. The tabby tom finished his announcement.
"Ashkit, you are too young to be made an apprentice but Streamfrost will help you. You are now her apprentice, known as Ashpaw."

Streamfrost sat beneth high rock, being her graceful self. Her eyes popped out of her skull when she learned she was the new deputy. She was about to bulrt that she didn't have an apprentice, but the next announcment made it clear. She remembered Ashkit and smiled. She walked near the front of the clan, proud holding her tail high. She looked around at the others, "I will do my best to serve Shadowclan and it's needs." She yelled her speech. All the different furs mashed together in the front of the clan. She remembered when she was a kit and she saw Rowanstar becoming deputy.

Ashpaw lifted her head proudly. She could be headstrong and reckless, thought Rowanstar, but she would make a loyal warrior if she threw herself in to battle to save the lives of her clanmates. "I believe you, Streamfrost. Ashpaw seems very proud." Rowanstar meowed, looking at the gray apprentice. Her eyes were bright and her sisters Heatherkit and Milkkit were listening to her boast.

Streamfrost's tail swished back and forth on the ground and she saw her apprentice's face in the crowd since it was held high in pride. She went toward the gray fluffball and touched noses with her apprentice. "When do you want to start?" She asked.

Ashpaw's eyes were shining. The gray apprentice shrugged. "Anytime!"

Streamfrost looked up at the sun. It would be good to start tomorrow. She thought of all the good and bad... She looked back at the gray cat's lited face, "Sleep well tonight because we are starting tomorrow." Her paws twitched in excitment of her own. Her first apprentice! She soothed herself back down. She was suppose to be the mature one while Ashpaw was the energy excitment one.

"Congratulations Streamfrost! You too Ashk- I mean Ashpaw" Icefire meowed happily. Icefire noticed Ashkit perk up when he said his new apprentice name. " Ashpaw can you come over here for a second" Icefire meowed to the kit as as the excitement died down. "Ashpaw" Icefire mewed, they had moved away from the group for a second " I wanted to wish you good luck. I hope you have a great apprenticeship. Listin to Streamfrost and rmember what she says. Also, my most important peice of advice, when you can't decide to do, go with your heart. Now get out there! You have congratulations to receive!" Icefire finalized, purring happily, hoping that the new apprentice would remember his advice.
