"Uh.. um... never mind," he stammered still wondering who had called him. He continued to stare out in the direction of the lake when one of his cuts from Tigerstar suddenly seared in pain. Dandypaw groaned and licked it, trying to make it so then it wouldn't burn any longer. After a few more moments the pain subsided leaving him shaking.

Russetpaw watched her best friend tremble. She padded towards him and sat down beside him. "Are you OK? You're shaking like Tigerstar when his lives were ripped out!" she kindly entwined her tail with his. "Is something wrong?"

"Nothings wrong," Dandypaw snapped, accidentally to Russetpaw. Seeing her eyes fall he mewed," I'm sorry. That was very rude of me, but nothing's wrong. Ok?" He shuddered again, sidetracked. He stood up, stretched, yawned, then sat down again, not taking any notice of anything. Still to deep in thought.

"Okay." she meowed quietly, moving away from him. What had gotten in to Dandypw, she thought puzzled. He was her best friend! She opened her mouth to say something but thought better of it.

"I'm sorry again Russetpaw," Dandypaw meowed between clenched teeth as one of the wounds from Tigerstar's ghostly claws burned. He looked over at the cut and noticed that it had started to bleed again, "Foxdung," he hissed as he bent down to lick it clean.

"Need help?" Before he could oblige Russetpaw was back on her feet and padding towards him. She started licking a wound on his ear, stretching to her limits to reach over her best friend. "How did you get so big? When I was a kit you were nice and small." she grumbled.

He flinched as the cuts stunge but eventually they stopped stinging. He listened to the steady lap of her tounge. Then once again he heard the ghostly mew calling his name. Dandypaw jerked away from Russetpaw and stood up, his fur on his shoulders bristling, his tail swishing angrily, and his claws sliding out, ready for an attack. "Who's there?!" he yowled staring off into the distance of the trees, the light fading more and more.

Russetpaw backed away. A strange whisper was caught on the wind. "What's going on?" she meowed shakily. Suddenly, she felt a searing pain through her...
She was a ghost, walking through her past. Watching Russetkit follow Dandypaw and attack Scarletkit, and get mad at Dandypaw for being embarrassed of her. Russetpaw saw her apprentice ceremony and Dandypaw falling for Fizzlepaw. She saw herself standing by nightshade and leaping in to the lake. She saw Dandypaw fighting with Redpaw at the shore and the horrible realization that Redpaw loved her. Groaning, Russetpaw tried to open her eyes...
The thoughts whirled around her. She felt stabbing pain and saw her worst nightmares... Fizzlepaw raising Dandypaw's kits, Dandypaw being torn to shreds, Redpaw fighting him to the death.. and herself thrown in to capture.
Russetpaw yowled in pain and tried to open her eyes. She felt herself writhing on the ground. What was going on?

Dandypaw stared at Russetpaw in horror.
"No," he breathed as he saw her thrashing around on the ground. "Russetpaw? Russetpaw wake up!" he nuzzled her in her shoulder trying to wake her up when he heard a twig snap behind him. He whirled around and saw Redpaw, a smug grin on his horribly treacherous face. "Get away!" Dandypaw hissed swiping his claws at his new nemesis.
He turned back to Russetpaw, his ice blue eyes troubled with worry for her. "Come on Russetpaw, wake up, theres nothing wrong," he nudged her in the shoulder again but more gently.

Redpaw limped towards her, hissing. "She won't wake up until we fight!" he spat, unsheathing long black claws. "you've hurt her enough!"

Dandypaw growled,stepping protectively over Russetpaw.
"If you take another step you'll regret it," he hissed, unsheathing his long, talon like claws.

Redpaw yowled a battle cry and pounced towards Dandypaw, his paws outstretched and claws unsheathed to their full potential.

Dandypaw easily dodged Redpaw's attack and leapt at him. His long claws racked across Redpaws hide, drawing blood.
"I did warn you didn't I?" Dandypaw taunted Redpaw, moving from side to side dodging Redpaws attacks. "Please Redpaw, I don't want to fight with you. But your asking for it," Dandypaw launched himself on Redpaw and bit down hard on the tom's ear.

Redpaw yowled and pulled away, leaving part of his torn ear in Dandypaw's mouth. Blood spattered the ground and Redpaw was breathing heavily. "You don't deserve Russetpaw! You've hurt her too many times!" he yowled, dodging another attack and sinking his teeth in to Dandypaw's tail.
Russetpaw blinked. Her body had stopped shuddering and she lay limp on the ground. Every breath hurt and she shivered, the cold air getting to her. She heard yowling and there was blood everywhere. She closed her eyes and took another breath, resting her head.

"Russetpaw!" Dandypaw yowled her name seeing, her eyes open. Dandypaw swiped his claws at Redpaw, making his opponent elease his tail. He ran over to Russetpaw and nuzzled her to her paws. "Go hide," he whispered," I don't want you to see-" he was cut off when Redpaw pushed him into the ground.
