Midnightstar pushed her way through the bushes entering the open clearing. Her and her clan apparently had been the first to arrive. Padding silently, Midnightstar gracefully leaped up the great oak to sit on the highest visible branch. As she gazed down she watched her clan settle into the clearing waiting for the other clans to arrive. She couldn't wait until Hawkstar arrived so she could congratulate her about her kits to come. If she needed any help she would send Rainflower instantly to help. She just hoped everything would go alright.

Rainflower followed her leader into the clearing on the island. She settled herself comefortable at the end of the clearing so she would have a clear view of the other cats. She was hoping that RiverClan would sit ahead of her for she found an interest in them. There she-cats were clever and kind and there tom was Bold, coragous, kind, and strong. She admired them greatly, but she loved her clan. Waiting for the others to arive she sared into the stars, waiting for StarClan to take their places in the sky.

Since Hawkstar was away, Silverstream was in charge as she was deputy. Flamefur sat boldly beside her and waited for the Clans to gather. He stretched ruefully and kept his eyes dim, so other Clans would not notice he was blind. He flicked his blank gaze towards the ThunderClan cats. He longed to join his old clan for the gathering, especially since when his father had retired he had became great friends with Midnightstar. Catching any signs of gazes upon him, he snuck away and sat at the edge of the Great Oak, meowing a greeting to Midnightstar. Mayeb he would spend the night with them, if he was allowed. Flamefur wanted to talk to his father, old friend Midnightstar, and his grandfather Firestar. It was strange how they were all leaders.
"Hello, Midnightstar! May I spend the night in ThunderClan? We have a lot of catching up to do!" he purred to his old friend, laughing a cat laugh. He reached his paws against the large tree and waited for her reply.

"Hi Flamefur!" Midnightstar purred as she leaped dow from the oak. "It's great to see you agian." Midnightstar gazed longingly at him meowing, "Of course you can spend the night." Gazing down at her paws she thought to herself, I'd wish he'd stay though. It was nice having a friend. Gazing back up she asked, "So hows life in RiverClan?"

"Ok... I'm not sure what to do, though." He hopped up beside her as the other cats broke into their conversations. Flamefur licked his pur to hide his embarrassement. "I don't think Hawkstar cares for me at all. Right now, she... it seems Wildpath was better a friend and mate then we ever will be. I don't want to just leave, but... I don't know! What should I do!" His meow was desperate.

Uneasyness pricked at her paws. As she stared at the handsome RiverClan tom her heart pounded. She secretly liked the tom but she knew he loved Hawkstar. She had liked him ever since he was an apprentice like she. Glancing at her paws shuffling along the bark, she moewed, "I-I'm sure that its just hard for Hawkstar, but its possible she might just be sad that Wildpath's gone and wants to feel what she had felt for Wildpath again. But I mean, if you really love her then i'm sure she'll learn to love you too." Pausing, she glanced toward the starry spirits watching over the clans. "But, thats your choice on which clan you care for most. Your birth clan who's cared for you since you were kitted, or your adopted clan. I can try to understand why you'd like RiverClan more, but I'm not sure it would be the same for me if I had the same choice. I'd think I'd want to be with my birth clan, but you'd probably want to be with Hawkstar, which is reasonable." Heart pulsing, the young she-cat glanced back up at the tom, waiting for his reply.

"Muh?" Lunafire mewed when he heard Flamefur say " No, I belong in Thunderclan.". 'Does that mean he's going to come back?' Lunafire thought as he remembered the cheerful and sarcastic Flamefur from his kithood.

Since Hawkstar's kits were apprentices now, she took over for the Gathering. She brought along Flamefur's kit, her apprentice, Mintpaw, and also Lightningpaw with her mentor, and Coyotepaw and Smokypaw with their mentors. Still a bit weak from kitting almost a moon ago, Hawkstar made sure Silverstream was behind her. Sandstorm and a few other cats came too, including Wonderstep and her new apprentice, Silverpaw. As Hawkstar flicked her tail to signal the cats down, she watched Flamefur. What was he doing? she wondered. Anyway, she thought, climbing up into the tree, and signaled Crowstar and Midnightstar and Cloudstar to do the same. "We gather beneath Starclan this full moon to share in our differences and hardships, our good times and bad," Hawkstar yowled, catching the cats' attention.

Midnightstar sat arrogantly in the branch, looking down over the cats. She listened intently for news of other clans, but her mind seemed to be reeling with thoughts. Shaking her head she returned her gaze to Hawkstar waititng for her news.

Hawkstar took Midnightstar's cue. "All is well in RiverClan. We have had good luck with prey this past moon. Five of our kits have received their Apprentice names. Mintpaw is my apprentice. Coyotepaw is Sandstorm's, Lightningpaw is Silverstream's, and Smokypaw is Orangefire's . Wonderstep hasbeen given a new apprenice also, Silverpaw."
"Mintpaw! Coyotepaw! Lightningpaw! Smokypaw! Silverpaw!"was the cry.
Hawkstar lashed her tail to show she was not done. "Flamefur has also joined Riverclan. He is a loyal, brave, trustworthy, and kind cat, and I admire his courage." Hawkstar pulled back her shoulder blades as she gazed at Flamefur.
"Flamefur! Flamefur!"
Hawkstar stepped back to let Midnightstar know that she was finished.

Midnightstar stepped forward. "Flamefur has also joined ThunderClan and will be know to live in both ThunderClan and RiverClan. I admire his loyalty, and courage and we welcome him as a warrior of ThudnerClan. We have also named a new warrior Lunafire and I know he will serve his clan well. Prey is running incredibly well and the spring will bring new kits to our clan. ThunderClan is well."
"Flamefur!! Lunafire! Flamefur!! Lunafire!" Was the chant. Flicking her tail she signaled another leader to step forward.

flamefyr felt a bit embarrassed but he stepped up and licked the two leaders. (can flamefur be Smokypaw's mentor?)

Lunafire shuffled his paws and licked his chest fur as everybody called out his and Flamefurs name. As the crowd of cats settled down Lunafire started thinking of Flamefur. He was glad the warrior could come back and live in both clans. He also hoped to talk to some of the thunderclan elders to see if something like this ever happened.
