Hawkpath's Kits

[*Spanglestar]

Hawkpath settled down in the nursery, waiting for sleep to come.

She awoke in pain. She was in labor! Before she knew it, two bundles lay at her side. One was a bright ginger she-cat with green eyes. "Squirrelkit," she mewed. The second kit was a gray and silver she-cat with black and white patches and bright hazel eyes. "Ashenkit," Hawkpath mewed, sweeping her tongue lightly over her kit's back. It jumped and screeched, unsheathing its tiny claws, but falling down, dizzy. Hawkpath tilted her head, worrying. She would have to check with Leafdapple. "SilverClaw!" she called, wiggling with joy.

[Flamefur]

Silverclaw sprinted towards the nursery and saw Hawkpath and two kits at her side. He purred and licked her ear, laughing.

Squirrelkit yawned and blindly ran towards the new cat. It was a big gray tom. She ran in to his paw and mewled rolling around.

[*Spanglestar]

Hawkpath smiled and giggled.

"EEEEK!" Ashenkit screeched, jumping on top of her sister. "FzzzUEET!!"

Hawkpath gasped. What was wrong with her kit?

[Flamefur]

Squirrelkit wheeled around and pushed her sister off. "You sound funny Ashenkit!" she mewed, hissing.

Silverclaw gasped. What could be wrong?

[*Spanglestar]

Ashenkit blinked. "GrRR!"

Hawkpath thought for a moment.

[Flamefur]

Squirrelkit stalked towards her and prodded her with a small ginger paw. "Ashenkit! You sound funny!" she mewed, barreling her sister over.

Silverclaw crouched beside her and meowed something quietly. Ashenkit ignored him completely. She's deaf! He realized with concern.

[*Spanglestar]

Ashenkit squealed and baffled her sister, her strong hind legs pinning her sister down. She meant to say, "What in the world?" but it came out as, "Hyoo is-deeo hok chof."

[Flamefur]

"Hi-you dee is hot choff?" Squirrelkit mewed, confused.
